Aug 13th 2010 We all have to go sometime

Wow! That was fun, wasn’t it? You can imagine how excited I am. I want to thank all of you for making the debut of “Gallery Arlo and Janis” a rousing success. Special thanks, of course, to those who purchased a cartoon. I don’t intend to flood the market with my artwork, but I think the general enthusiasm warrants one more round.

I’ve thought about ways to make this fair, and here’s my plan. Monday morning, at 10 o’clock ET, I will post 6 cartoons at “Gallery Arlo and Janis“ that will be for sale at the “Buy It Now” price of $165. (OK, it’s true: I want $150, but you don’t really believe there’s such a thing as free shipping and handling, do you?) This time, there will be an option to bid. As you know by now, the first bid automatically removes the “Buy It Now” option and initiates a three-day auction. Nobody, including me, knows where things will go from there.

Then, to be fair to those who cannot participate at work, six more cartoons will go up for sale Monday evening, at 9 o’clock ET.

Of course, the most-asked question is, “How do I get the cartoon I really like?” Well, I don’t know; that’s a tough one. In all, I intend to post 12 A&J cartoons of which I’m particularly proud, and I’m afraid the purchasing strategy will be up to you. As much as it hurts me, I ask you to refrain at this time from offering to buy a favorite cartoon that isn’t included in the auction. I’m just not set up for that right now.

I’m not saying I’ll never sell artwork again, but these 12 offerings will be it for now. I do hope to have other A&J-related paraphernalia to sell at “Gallery Arlo and Janis,” so stay tuned. And, again, thank you.
