Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” may have been the first┬ácontemporary movie made for adult audiences that I ever saw with just my buddies. I remember being terrified. I remember loving it. Hitch’s blonde du jour was Tippi Hedrin. He had a thing for those blondes. Second billing went to Suzanne Pleshette. I don’t understand it. In Ms. Pleshette, he had one of the most striking women in movies, and he lets her eyes get pecked out, while the┬ápale Ms. Hedrin flutters and shrieks her way to “The End,” which was somewhat unsatisfying, looking back. And they were such beautiful eyes!
