Given much of the discussion of late, I couldn’t resist rerunning this cartoon from ten years ago. I promise: it’s my last word on the whole subject.

A lot of us are thinking about Haiti this morning. There are many organizations struggling to help people after the terrible earthquake there. Anyone wanting to make a donation should have no trouble finding a worthy conduit. For example, I gave to Week of Compassion, an organization of the Disciples of Christ dedicated to humanitarian aid. I’m not a member of the church, but I know firsthand they do good work. There are many others.
