Feb 7th 2010 09:44 pm Extra, extra! Read all about it!

In much of the United States, hell has frozen over, and in Miami, the New Orleans Saints have won the Super Bowl.
I have to take back some of what I said two weeks ago in the wake of the Saints’ defeat of the Vikings. New Orleans had 60 minutes to abuse Peyton Manning in the manner they abused Brett Favre in the NFC championship, but Mr. Manning escaped relatively unscathed, if not victorious. The Vikings–and particularly Mr. Favre–need some help up front.
One thing is certain: the New Orleans Saints are the NFL champions. Who dat?!

It’s not what many expected, but the Saints deserved the win. I wonder how much money was lost in Los Vegas? You can bet that there will be a continuous party in New Orleans until Mardi Gras!

WHO DAT? DREW DAT!
I drove to Miami this week and left Saturday morning to get back to Michigan by 3:30 this afternoon. Did you happen to hear me screaming when Porter intercepted the pass?
And yes Hell HAS frozen over. My son lives near Dulles Airport in DC and said that he had 34.2″ of snow there.

It was a great game, and a good excuse for a party!

Just checked in on the A&J website after a long absence. (And it’s said that you can never go home.) I heard a rumor that there is going to be a new Arlo and Janis book… can it be? Can’t wait.

Congrats to all you Saints fans! A lifelong resident of Wisconsin, I was hoping to see Brett Favre in the Super Bowl. The next best thing is seeing the team that beat him and the Vikings, win. Yeah, Saints! And, maybe next year, Brett!
Also, I had been thinking that this winter was rather tame…

Don’t get me started on the Vikes/Saints game. Yes, the Vikes front line needs help, but those Saints guys were a tad unprofessional in their hits on Favre. I was rooting for the Colts, that is, until the final of the SB won me the board at work. Thank you, Saints, and Congratulations to me!

Congrats to the Saints. Now on with the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, then into Stanley Cup playoffs and finally the soccer World Cup.

Meh. I was enjoying the game until the Saints started pulling out the cheap tricks to win. I’m willing to bet the defensive lineman who got injured during Manning’s drive in the second half had a full recovery ten minutes later. I stopped watching after the interception.

Here in Michigan, we know that Hell freezes over every winter! Sometimes even in the spring. Hell, Michigan that is. I have a graphic but I’ve learned to never go there with this software.

A great Super Bowl. My son an Alabama graduate and life long Saints fan. Was at the Championship Game in Pasadena last month and at the game in Miami yesterday. He has had a great month. He took his Auburn student younger brother with him to the Super Bowl and they had a great time. Roll Tide & Geaux Saints!!!

I’ve been wondering just exactly where dat came from. I have a vague memory that there was a vaudeville routine in which one blackface character, in a dark room, would hear a noise and ask “Who dat?” Another would answer, “Who dat say ‘who dat’?” Then the first would reply, “Who dat say ‘who dat say “who dat” ‘?” I don’t remember how it finally ended; it could go on forever.

Boise Ed,
I remember, “Who dat who say ‘Who dat’ when I say ‘Who dat’?” Don’t remember what dat was from, though. I guess we should ask, “What dat dat say ‘Who dat’?”

And another thing…did you know that the QB coach for the Saints is Vince Lombardi’s grandson?? You must think that I live under a pile of snow, because I just read about it in yesterday’s paper.

A friend of mine told me about an obnoxious wrong-number phone call he got once long ago.
My friend: “Hello?”
Woman’s voice: “WHO DAT?”
My friend: “Excuse me? Who is calling, please?”
Woman’s voice: “AH SAID, WHO DAT?”
My friend: “Just little old me.” [hang up]
I always think of him when I hear “WHO DAT?”
Greg from Robertsdale on 10 Feb 2010 at 9:49 pm #
Mark, I think of my Dad when I hear “who dat”. Apparently there was a radio schtick with that.
“Who Dat?”
“Who dat say who dat?”
Who dat say who dat when I say who dat?”
One of those silly things that a teen rolls his eyes over after hearing it a million times, but something the grown man who once was that teen would give his eye teeth to hear just one more time now that he’s gone.

Jimmy ,
Can’t take too much more of this bs, Vikings out played the St’s on their turf, with crowd noise, just gave the ball away too many times, blind ref’s didn’t call obvious low hits on the quarterback, so the St’s got the win, no congrats from me.
