This photograph, also from The Register, was taken in Pascagoula, MS, west of Dauphin Island. Swept away together were scenic, old Pascagoula neighborhoods and workaday neighborhoods where "resort" was a word for doing what you must to get along. Mind you, this photo still is 40 miles east of Pass Christian, with the destruction becoming more extensive the farther west you go.
