This old Sunday is from 1995. By that year, the daily cartoons were being transmitted and archived digitally, but not the Sunday cartoons. This was because the files were so much bigger. Obviously, the black and white originals were bigger, but this wasn’t the real problem. The color guidelines required from the cartoonists for the colorists to do their work were tremendous compared to the b&w files. Transmitting speeds of the day were so slow, it would take forever to transfer them hither and yon via the internet. For several years after cartoonists were submitting daily work digitally, the Sunday material continued to move by snail mail.
