Nancy, A recently deceased transplant from “Joisy”, Patt Rall, was distressed by this, and also by seed caps worn indoors. I’m afraid we’re stuck with guys, used as a default for both women and men, and often so used by women. First ran into it in mid 1950s from a well-behaved 15 or so yr-old girl in her parent’s home where we were guests for dinner. She was excusing herself from the table to go study, and addressed her dad [a U. Mich. zoology prof.], mom, and Elaine and me as “You guys”. Elaine and I were surprised, but have since gotten used to it. Don’t know if it’s “acceptable” where Elaine is.

I’m not particularly happy re seed caps indoors, especially on backwards, but am more annoyed by low slung pants, which often result in being “half-mooned.” Fads are strange,

Holes in jeans/slacks make no sense to me. Especially the prices on that clearly defective merchandise!

I went back through my attempts to photograph the full moon last night as soon as I got in from orchestra rehearsal. This was the best… and I took it as the clouds came rolling in.

Oops. I’ll have to try again when I get home. The firewalls here at work are unfriendly.

This just came on truck radio, a favorite Warren Zavon song.

    That better be Warren Zevon

Everyone needs a little (maybe a lot!) of Warren Zevon in their life!

I agree Jim. Great loss of immense talent however.

Ghost says he was wrong about noses. The amount of snot they will hold is infinite.

He is coughing and blowing again. I am not.

I feel for Ghost’s nose. I remember getting food poisoning a few years ago and made the same observation about how much the opposite end of the body can hold. For about a week, I was dumbfounded of the amount that the human body can hold!

LOL with you, Llee and totally agree with you about “you guys,” Nancy in Bucks Co. Also your friend, emb. (I had to transfer this first line from yesterday’s post )

True musicians know that ALL gigs are temporary.

Here’s the photo I tried to post earlier:

You could see the clouds swirling around the moon last night. By this morning, it was a solid cloud cover over this Utah valley.

I first heard girls calling each other “you guys” when visiting friends in St Louis around 1967. As a Memphian, I found it odd and confusing.

The casual use of guys for gender indeterminate is a pre/post 60′s deal. Probably the hair. When the great Rita Moreno would let loose with a big ‘HEY YOU GUUUUYS!’ to start another episode of the Electric Company, it never occurred to me to count the mix of genitals in the crowd. If they were in fact all young men, that never occurred to me either.

The Village went to bed early.

Ghost is sick again. Scared me to death last night he was so not lucid. Did not think that I could wrestle him to an emergency room alone.

Calling ambulance and EMS was my back up plan.

He is better this morning and sleeping.

Misti offered to come help drag him 50 miles to ER at 1.30 last night. He said the two of us trying to dress him and get him into a truck involuntarily would have been fun to see.

He is back mentally after fever broke but still sick. I love this man you know.

Speaking of loving this person [a woman this time], Kiesl’s comment herein:

is heartwarming. It makes more sense if you’ve followed 9CL’s story line. Trust me, Gran was one hot patooty back in WWII, when she was a USO entertainer [+ US
