Jan 18th 2012 08:16 am Snuggle up or snuggle down?

Since I brought it up, some of you will remember that I reported from the 2005 festival international de la bande dessinĂ©e. I’ve repeated that coverage here before, but it’s been years since, so I thought I’d post a link to those old pages and let you blunder around the archives. Warning: you’ll be all alone with no one to assist you. Budget cutbacks have forced us to furlough the archives staff. No, I haven’t given you the link yet, because I want you to read this first: go to the bottom of the page, to the last entry, and start with the link that says, “Well, let’s go!” Once you get started, click on the photographs to advance. For the next day’s coverage, start from the second-to-last post (They’re in reverse order!) Well, let’s go!

“Well, let’s go” fits so well with Arlo smirking off to “just snuggle.”

Looking at the second panel….i’d say the three of them will be very comfortable…

JJ, thanks for the trip back in time, mini time capsule of the way things were back in the day. All of this happened before I had found your website. Love the way the links loop back around.

Today’s Barney and Clyde took me back to our discussion of “life” elsewhere in the universe -

Ruth? Who are Barney and Clyde?
[Did I just have another blonde moment?]
MINDY on 18 Jan 2012 at 9:37 am #
Seeing the link, yes, I had another blonde moment. Never mind, as Roseanne Roseannadanna would say.

Mindy? Who is Roseanne Roseannadanna? [Just tinkering with you, never mind, I remember the old old old SNL all too well.

How many books do we have to buy to send you back to France (and Cuba)?

Ruth Anne in Winter Park, Enjoyed the link, thanks. Never seen that strip before.
Cogito Ergo Sum does in fact mean “I think, therefore I am”, but that’s partially incorrect. What the fact of “I think” actually proves is that a thinking entity exists, but not an actual physical entity. It also does not rule out other possibilities, such as waking up to find oneself to be a butterfly who had dreamed of having lived a human life. (thanks Wikipedia for the comic interpretation possibility) (yes, Wikipedia is blacked out today, can still be accessed if you know how…..)

I checked in to see if this site would be participating in the blackout, I understand and support the reasons for it. I’ve posted two pictures on Wikipedia, the picture of William Windom (actor) and a 1950′s Judge magazine cover – they make you jump through hoops and oodles of explanations why it should be free and fair use, they cover all the bases, they’re not there to steal any intellectual property

John in Richmond Texas: SOPA and PIPA, as they’re being called, seem to leave the way open much to far for governmental censorship as well as the anti-piracy aspect. I have to take the middle ground here. I do not believe the government is in the morality business. Taken to extremes, Jimmy might find himself in deep trouble for show Janice clothed only in underwear or Arlo peeking. On the other hand, I’m hell on wheels against the pedophiles. Go figure. So, I side with the anti-legislation people for the most part although I’ve never participated in any kind of protest in my life…except to refuse to eat [product name deleted to preclude free advertising]. That was a joke…

I’ve been following jimmy’s blog for quite a while. I’ve accumulated about 20 links
for the old blog and was hoping for a new one….no such luck. I already had
that one.
John in Virginia – your comment about refusing to eat certain products (even though
posted as a joke) hits a nerve with me. I have gotten so that if a product advertisement
offends me or is just too stupid, I’ll refuse to purchase said product. Curmudgeon?
Yep, that’s me!

Tom, decades ago I stopped going to a certain fast food chain because I found the idea of people going to breakfast there in their pyjamas and robes offensive. Not the idea of their wearing that in public, but the idea that I was stupid enough to find that plausible. I still ignore the Fallen Arches, and don’t miss them in the slightest.

sideburns, What’s turned me off about them lately is, “pickles, pickles, pickles.” I think there are pajamas involved in that ad, too.

Have contributed information twice to Wikipedia, information that was most likely known only to me. One was info on the descendants of Robert Frost, info which would be difficult for you to locate because it is now on a site that is only accessible with permission of the family and the other about Earl Gideon, the man who petitioned the supreme court and became resposible for the Gideon decision. This information I had due to my friendship with Gideon’s attorney, later known as Judge Turner and my possession of copies of investigative notes from the original investigation. I corrected some mistakes in the previous Wikipedia article concerning personal information re Gideon and minor additional information about the crime itself. I usually find Wikipedia to be very helpful and the people resposible for the site seem to take pains to keep it strictly factual as much as possible. As for quoting copyrighted material, we do it here and most of us try our best to make the quotes accurate, properly attributed and factual where apropriate, so if I don’t always worrry about a copyright that’s today’s technology and that’s the way it goes.

RESPONSIBLE—GRRRRRR!

Bob, near Mark – haven’t seen the pickles, pickles, pickles advert yet (thank God for
my Dish DVR – I record just about everything so I don’t have to watch commercials).
The last time I went to McD’s, I asked for extra pickles…they gave me ONE extra pickle slice.
And why can’t they even get the meat/fish on the center of the bun? Is it that tricky?
John in Virginia – I misread your comment about the joke. I realise now you weren’t making
a joke, but some aspect of the advert was a joke…..sorry.

Hmm, my antivirus (etc.) program is warning me off the Ramparts2.html page because of cross-site scripting that it considers suspicious. Any idea what’s up with that?
