I've never forgotten that scene in the 1978 movie "Midnight Express," where Billy Hayes turns back from the brink of insanity in a Turkish prison by walking counter clockwise while all the other inmates walk clockwise in a pointless circle. Of course, this causes not a little bit of consternation and agitation among those who've already lost their mind.
