Remember “shopping days?” As in, “Only five more shopping days until Christmas.” Every day, beginning about Thanksgiving, the local newspaper would include a tiny graphic on the front page, usually featuring a snowman or an elf or something, counting down “shopping days.” This, of course, meant “days not including Sunday.” They still count down shopping days, but it’s sort of a meaningless exercise.
