Jun 16th 2008 09:01 am Ummmmmm…

I’m continuing today with strips from the not-too-distant past, from the summer of 2006, to be exact. I’m going to run a few strips from a little series about meditation. I warn you: concentrate or some of these jokes will fly right by you.

Thought you might have a golf theme today as the U S Open playoff is on ESPN right now. It sure would be fun to be there in La Jolla watching instead of working today! I remember a few strips that had Arlo and Gene playing golf. Maybe you could round one up for the other “Open Championship” in July.

How about Stonebridge Golf Course in Bossier City? When you get to the second hole tee, look to your left. That is my house, and I will have a cool beverage waiting for you.

The College World Series is also on ESPN.

“Golf is a nice walk ruined by a small white ball.”
Don’t know who said it, but whoever it was had a point.
On the strip-that’s why I don’t meditate. I get distracted too easily.
Today’s strip-shouldn’t that be “gringO”? Not that my grasp of Spanish is all that good, but I thought the “a” at the end of a word denoted the feminine tense. Anyway, of course they like Gene. He’s a likeable guy.

I am waiting to hear the comments from today’s (June 17) strip. It should be interesting.

Does that go for everyone, BillinBossier, or just JJ?

Mark Twain once said something to the effect that “Golf is a good walk ruined.” I’m sure there are many derivations.

Yeah, I thought that too, the Gringa thing. Or are they intentially calling him a girly boy?
P.S. – I LOVE the cat strips!

I was never interested in watching golf until my kids got a Wii system. My husband and I have now gotten into the habit of sneaking away to play Wii golf when the kids aren’t looking. We get so wrapped up in it. Now I find that I can watch golf on TV and actually feel it!!

Jean from Dahlonega GA, “gringa” IS a feminine noun and Gene doesn’t know it– that’s the joke.

Re: today’s strip – I thought Gene wasn’t that clueless, except when it came to girls…

Jean, I think that’s the point. They’re making fun of him by calling him a girl, and he’s oblivious.

What if you meditate and find that no one’s home?
