It’s Saturday. I’m going to take a break from the deep archives and show you a cartoon from 2006. It isn’t even in season, but I like it. This one is for Redman, who’s been known to follow football closely.

As for pileated woodpeckers, they’re not uncommon in the deep south, but they’re not common, either. They aren’t numerous compared to other birds, and they seem to favor the woods. A sighting always is cause for excitement, but one hears their distinctive call quite often! (Is that PIE-lated or pihLEEAted?)
