The first hummingbird came through late yesterday afternoon! In all honesty, I doubt if he was the very first hummingbird, but he was the first one I have seen. Spring continues to bear down relentlessly in these parts, and if you’re one of those doubting Thomases, one of those who believes it is a false spring and that there’ll surely be a late freeze, the birds do not agree with you. They’re going nuts as I write, and they will continue until sundown, and the mockingbirds will go on after that.
It’s going to be a busy week around here. I’ll be appearing Thursday morning at the Bradshaw Library in Valley, Alabama. This is the same “Valley” I wrote about in the autobiographical first chapter of Beaucoup Arlo & Janis, so this will be a very special event for me. The program begins at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
Then, it’s on to Parnassus Books on Hillsboro Pike in Nashville, where I’ll be available for inspection on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 3 o’clock. I hope you will plan to attend if you’re in the Music City area.
