Since this was my first experiment with story telling within Arlo and Janis, the folks at United Media were asking logical questions like, “What’s going to happen?” and, “Where are you going with this?” I didn’t know! I was making it up as I went along, which I would continue to do for every future A&J storyline.

Great news.
My company was based in Winona, MN in the early 1990s and I would go there several times a year. Of course that was before digital photography and social media. Last week my wife and I drove from Michigan to Deadwood SD and she wanted to see the Mississippi river so I made the turn and we drove through Winona. She wondered why I never took any pictures while I was there, but frankly I was only there on business. I really enjoyed running the 5 miles around the lake and I met a lady who knew of a co-worker that had actually inspired me to start running marathons.
I did scrape a pole while in Deadwood, but not a lot of damage, or so I thought. Drove 80 MPH as that was the speed limit in SD, then stopped for the night in Iowa City. As I was cleaning the bug stuff on the windshield the next morning, I noticed the tire where the damage was and spotted a bulge on the side of the tire. Fortunately I found an honest tire store and replaced it. It was not a matter of if,but when it would produce a blowout. Thank goodness it did not happen at 80 MPH!

I was there in late 60s.
I used the “Watkins” Bank because it LOOKED like a bank.
Lot of changes by the 90s when our son went to WSU.
What was your Co.
Old Bear:
I worked for Lake Center Industries. It got sold to TRW and I think that they got sold again. It was a bit unique as most of the Engineers did not have 4 year degrees and were more interested in hunting and fishing…and having a few beers. But a beautiful area to visit.
I see JJ’s tribute to Tony Bourdain today. I think most people will get it.
I could see Arlo was in mourning, but it didn’t click for whom.
