Today’s classic A&J cartoon begins a series from 1998, of which I’ve always been fond. It also brings up the question that has been toyed with here before, I think. Why were men on the cutting edge of computer skills when the home computer was a sprawling desktop city of wires and boxes, while women have moved to the fore as the handheld device replaces all manner of designated “computer?” (Well, at least in Arlo & Janis.)
A few readers who preordered a copy of Beaucoup Arlo & Janis have contacted me over the past few weeks, mildly complaining that their book was not autographed by yours truly, as was the deal. In most of those cases, they were mistaken. The autograph is on the title page, under the sports-car drawing, and it is written in black ink. It is not difficult to overlook. So, if you think your book was not autographed (Remember: we’re talking only about preordered books now.), look on the title page. If I had it to do over, I’d have used red ink. And I never, ever guaranteed the signature would be legible.
