Speaking of books, I’m reading Van Gogh, The Life, by Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith. I’m interested in books about artists in general, and I’m interested about the 19th-Century European art scene as well, so I’m enjoying the book. I will say, however, it helps if you really really want to know a lot about Vincent Van Gogh. It’s as if the authors told themselves from the outset, “Nobody will dare try to write anything about Van Gogh again after we get through!” It’s one of those books. So far, so good, but I’m 100 pages in, and Vince hasn’t even picked up a paintbrush. Heck, he hasn’t even taken up preaching yet!
