Just the fax, ma’am…

I don’t particularly want this Web site to become a trip down Memory Lane every day, but it seems that’s inevitably where we hang out a lot. Remember fax mania? There was a brief period, in the years immediately prior to personal computers becoming ubiquitous, when fax machines were the thing. If you’re not old enough to remember, you might think, “Fax machines?!” Yep. That’s how jokes were circulated. Reams and reams of paper were wasted swapping trivia over the telephone lines. It was also about this time the quaint notion that the telephone company cared what was disseminated via its equipment died.
