Jeff in Ann Arbor sent us a heads-up on some bad news. The Ann Arbor News will cease publication as a daily newspaper this July. Something web-based will replace it. It’s difficult to be much more precise than that. Such are the times.

Ann Arbor is home of the University of Michigan and the county seat of Washtenaw County. It has a population of about 115,000. Aside from particularly dire economic realities in Michigan generally, it’s hard to imagine a better environment for a medium-size daily newspaper. This is very bad news.
