I haven’t rerun this Christmas rant in at least two years. I checked. The over-commercialization of Christmas and the viral nature of our consumer economy in general have been favorite punching bags for me almost as long as I’ve been drawing Arlo & Janis. It’s easy and gratifying to get my licks in, but since Schulz’ creation of the Great Pumpkin, all us cartoonists are just saying, “Yeah, me, too!” Anyway, this series, I believe, comes close to reflecting my own conflicted feelings about this time of the year. So, the first installment of “A Christmas Growl.”
