And when that clock went off, it sounded like a three-alarm fire! Today is Chinese New Year, the most important holiday in China. We all know about that one. Do you know any other Chinese holidays? Well, there’s the Winter Solstice Festival, also known as “Chinese Thanksgiving,” and there’s the “Bathing and Basking Festival,” which isn’t as exciting as it sounds. That’s when households put things like books and bedding out in the sun. I prefer the “Dragon Boat Festival,” dedicated to dragon boat racing, eating food on a stick and drinking yellow rice wine. Sort of like the “Billy Bowlegs Festival” in Fort Walton Beach. (This Chamber of Commerce Web site plays down the rice-wine aspect, but trust me.)
