From this week 10 years ago, Arlo dries his hair. When “The Big Chill” came out in 1983, it attracted a lot of attention among members of my generation. Everybody was talking about it. One of the scenes that always was mentioned was a montage that showed each of the friends unpacking at the beginning of an eventful weekend together. Whether they were digging their least soiled duds out of the trunk of a car or emptying expensive Gucci luggage, they all included a personal hair dryer—a deft touch of screenplay that resonated perfectly.
