I came across an interesting online article from CNN International that I’m going to share with you in a moment. It’s a list of the world’s nine greatest rivalries according to Jordan Dane, a travel writer, I think. Anyway, these supposedly are fierce rivalries from across the globe, rivalries as diverse as the jockeying for supremacy between the cities of Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, the acrimony between the cricket teams of India and Pakistan, the challenge of Mount Everest compared to notorious K2 and the influence of ocean currents la Nina vs. el Nino. I’m not sure I’d call all these pairings “rivalries.” Some are more like heated discussions. Anyway, take a look for yourself. If you don’t want to click all the way through the entire list of nine, skip to No. 6. I’m not sure I’d call it an “honor,” but it’s certainly recognition.
