Only in a comic strip would someone name a motel “The Sand Flea.” Had I known Mary Lou eventually would achieve such real-life status within the strip and her family become minor players, I probably would have given the motel a less frivolous, more plausible name. And it wouldn’t have been as funny. That’s why it’s good not to think about this stuff too much.
