Hair Ado

February 17, 2011

From ten years ago today. As I recall, this was an attempt to remedy the brown shark fin on top of Janis’ head. I’ve never been happy with it. Unlike Janis, I was rather satisfied with her new ‘do. However, it didn’t take long for the shark fin to grow back, seemingly of its own accord. And Arlo’s hair! Don’t get me started on Arlo’s hair! Cartoon hair isn’t easy to draw.

  1. Re 2-17-21 real-time cartoon: It appears Janis feels her “bead collecting” days are over.
Not true, Janis. I’m sure that at an actual Mardi Gras parade you would have racked up. (Well, OK…pun intended.)

    • I’m Jewish, so I’m giving up the same thing this year as always: I’m giving up Lent for Lent. Humph! The reply box had my name and stuff right up until I clicked Reply, but it’s not there now. I’m making sure to click the Save box; let’s see if it does.

  2. A pipe in back has burst apparently and flooded the back half of house. I have called my plumber, am on list. Water department is coming to turn off water.

Ghost is in kitchen filling water jugs for cooking and drinking. Filling tub for toilets. Looking for homes in south Mississippi again.

    • Sorry to hear about the flood, Jackie. You and Ghost be careful. Although I guess Ghost is the more likely to get in the slick stuff, since you don’t have any business getting out anyway.

  3. Now go figure. I didn’t notice till I clicked post comment, but it has emb’s information saved instead of mine. So my post to Jackie is going to come up under emb’s name.

  4. Mark, twice I have noticed, before posting, other people’s names and email addresses had plugged themselves into my info blocks. Was going to email Jimmy but forgot in the midst of all the weather excitement.
JIMMY:PLEASE NOTE, IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE.

  5. I am still unable to get here easily. I have to type in page plus title. Could not bring up Hair Ado on my tablet but got all older pages.

This is getting very frustrating and tiresome.

  6. Yep, that “emb” was Mark, not me. My gem[?] went into cyberspace; don’t recall its subject. But here’s another one:

Janis’s “Men!” doesn’t really tell us who was on top [or in back, depending on how these DNA sharings occurred].
We Eurasians are the ones who carry up to 4% Neanderthal DNA. Full subsaharans Blacks are 100% H. sapiens. Don’t know about Australian indigenous blacks, but somebody might. It’s probably online somewhere.
You’re welcome for the apostrophe lesson. Peace,

  7. Looks ~ their ancestors left Africa before the ancestors of later Eurasians left.

Neanderthals arose in Europe later, which means they and we belong to 1 sp., not 2 spp. No trick to crossing 2 sspp. of 1 sp. You now know how to abbreviate species [singular], species [pl.], & subspecies [sing. & pl.]. If you want to classify Neanderthals as a ssp., they are Homo sapiens neanderthalensis [in italics, but this blog won’t do those]. If so, all of us, incl. indigenous Australians, are Homo sapiens sapiens [italics].
There will be a quiz next time.
    Peace,
