Speaking of books, I’ve already told you that my literary guilty pleasure is the wacky Florida crime farce, as exemplified by Carl Hiaasen (dean and my favorite), but that was a long time ago, and you’ve probably forgotten. I’m reading one now called “Star Island,” and if you’ve ever seen South Beach, you can appreciate how richly it deserves Hiaasen’s send-up. Randy Wayne White, particularly in his lighter moments, is another favorite, as is Tim Dorsey, who, like myself, is a graduate of Auburn University and, like myself, cut his teeth as a journalist and writer at The Plainsman, the student newspaper. I would provide you with links if I had more time, but they’re hardly necessary anymore, are they? Everybody Googles!
