Just a Big Softy

April 10, 2001

This old A&J, from 20 years ago this month, is one of my favorites. After the tornadoes and thunderstorms finally quieted, spring has arrived in all its glory. The past Easter weekend and into this week have been perfect. Outside, it is room temperature. The azaleas are rioting, and an atonal cacophony of bird songs somehow manages to hit the perfect note. The heat and the bugs will be here soon, but for now the outdoors couldn’t be better. When I write about the weather here, it usually signals I don’t have a lot to say that day. That’s probably true today, too, but in my defense I can tell you that the weather truly is the No. 1 topic of conversation around here.

  1. Perfect Easter Sunday weather in North Texas. Left the double doors open in both the back and front of the house. Had 20 people over for egg coloring. We’re definitely geezers as all but 3 have had their Covid shots. The 3 wore masks.
Only one fly appeared in the house on Monday. So, 21 over on Sunday.

When in doubt, an A&J srip is either about sex or cats.

I’ve never been owned by a cat, but I have heard that tracking kitty litter throughout the house is a common trait.

  3. April is pretty raw in these parts. But Easter Sunday’s weather was probably as good as it gets here. Everything is still brown and barren, though. And windy as heck. Just a few daffodils have opened up. So pipe down about your “rioting” azaleas, willya? I think Ludwig has dragged kitty litter around the house in the live strip? And Arlo’s messes aren’t so bad in comparison. Love the retro strip. Sadly, so true.

I just found this in the previous post: “Currently it says I am Rick in Shermantown, Ohio.”

Right now, I am Bill in Paducah, which I like because I was born near Paducah.

However, it is also showing Bill’s email address and a Facebook address.

I will change everything, of course.
