Obviously, I'm sorry the lady was upset, but equally
obvious--to me--is the fact she misconstrued the dialog
completely. In fact, the image was placed in my head by
a reading I'd recently heard on National Public Radio of
a children's version of "B'rer Rabbit and the Tar Baby,"
artfully performed by Danny Glover. However, having been
born and lived all my life in the American south, I'm
