For those of you who might’ve missed it, we had some fun with colors in a rare Saturday post. Click on “Skirting the issue” below, if you want to catch up. I should follow up with a pat on the back for the colorist’s work on “Today’s A&J.” In the original version, in my drawing, the lipstick on Arlo’s face was, of course, black. Unlike Saturday’s debacle, the colorist today had no trouble divining my intent and coloring the strip accordingly. I think the daily strips look better in black and white, honestly, but coloring for the Web and, increasingly, for newspapers that have spent a lot of money on state-of-the-art printing technology is a fact of life in the business these days. Ergo, I don’t have a real problem with it, and I certainly do not hold it against the persons hired to do the coloring. Besides, they almost always get it right, and I thank them for that.
