In the early days, I did a similar cartoon but from a different perspective. Janis comes home with a sack of groceries that includes two steaks and a pound of hamburger. Gene notices this and sourly thinks to himself, “Guess who’s going to be eating in rip-off city tonight!” Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little comic strips, I always say.
