Follow the money

We’ve awakened to a new world this morning. Bill Gates is no longer the richest man on the planet. In fact, he’s not even the second-richest man. The richest is now Warren Buffett, that good ol’ investor from Omaha. The second richest is Mexican telecommunications mogul, Carlos Slim. This is all according to Forbes magazine’s annual list of billionaires.

I know you Apple devotees probably are dancing in the aisles, but this might dampen your mood: half the top-20 richest people were Americans on last year’s list, but this year only four are.

Warren, however, is an American doing quite well. He added $10 billion dollars to his worth last year, mostly from his Berkshire Hathaway stock. You can own it, too. BH/A:US is $139,000 a share.
