Paul Newman has left us. He was a major icon of his generation, but he was more than a dusty symbol. On the screen he personified what his generation wanted to be, and in real life he personified what that generation should have been.

I’m repeating this little series in Mr. Newman’s memory. I’ve always contended this was the first time that comic strip characters discussed sexual fantasy in the newspaper. It might be the only time!
