I hope you had a memorable 4th of July, in a good way of course. Today’s classic cartoon is from one of the more recent beach series; it was running in newspapers at this time in 2003. An annual pilgrimage to the shore was a part of A&J for many years, and I always looked forward to it. Sometimes, they’d make it to the beach in May, so anxious was I to sit vicariously in the sand with them. Sitting in the sand, vicariously or otherwise, is not as high on my list as it once was, perhaps portended by this cartoon, if I think about it.
