There’s a fellow in a big truck full of gravel who is on the road somewhere as I write this. He’s headed for my house. When he arrives, he’s going to dump the gravel on my driveway, which has become a quagmire after that little sewer-line set-to last summer, followed by the rains of winter. That reminds me, since this allegedly is a cartoon blog, of one of my favorite New Yorker cartoons. Two men in pith helmets are serenely standing chest-deep in mud, and one says, “I don’t care if it is quicksand, I’ve half a mind to struggle.”
