So, this is what 2009 looks like! The retro cartoon today ran this week in 1997. The Y2K bug wasn’t even on the horizon for anyone but computer technicians.

The new year is off to a good start, I must say. Several readers from the Knoxville area have written to inform me that A&J finished first in a recently concluded comics survey conducted by The Knoxville News Sentinel, and rather handily, too. That is good news, indeed, when The New York Times is running articles about the decline of newspaper comic strips. Of course, The Times doesn’t even run comic strips, so what does it know?
