It’s true: I got ahead of myself Thursday, a rare occurence in itself. I was thinking it was Friday when I posted Thursday, as several of you wryly noted. I started to go back and correct myself when I realized the error, but I decided to let you have your fun. In fact, I thought an early Friday seemed like such a good idea that when the scheduled Friday rolled around, I didn’t post at all.

Have I mentioned the book yet today? Well, here goes. You will notice that the cartoons running in newspapers this week are repeats. My handlers graciously allowed me a week off from my normal duties to apply full attention to preparing my manuscript (It’s called a “document” these days.) for its Sept. 1 deadline. Yep. The book may really happen this time.
