Pretty Simple Explanation

By Jimmy Johnson

In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a new Nancy in town. You remember Nancy, don’t you? Of course you do. It’s being drawn by a young talent named Olivia Jaimes. She is attempting to take Ernie Bushmiller’s iconic creation back to its roots, and I think she’s doing it. Her style is quite different from the previous artists on Nancy, and, the Internet being the Internet, she’s gotten kicked around by a lot of commenters in her first few days. I think she has weathered that storm and is going to do well. Give Nancy a look, and while you’re at it you might research Ernie Bushmiller and the origins of the venerable feature. There’s probably a lot more to it than you’d come to believe.

As a long time follower of Nancy, I don’t like the new style, and have stopped following the comic.

I may revisit at a later date, when I have forgotten how it previously looked though, and can then concentrate on the humour.

I do think Charles Schulz had the right idea about not wanting anybody else to do Peanuts, and I am enjoying the reruns.

I’m glad that cartoons continue to survive on GoComics.com, and will continue to support that site as long as they support my favourite cartoonists.
