Creator of the comic strip 'Arlo & Janis,' Mr. Johnson first encountered an armadillo when he was 7 years old and visiting cousins in Mobile, Alabama. He has never forgotten the experience and considers it a turning point in his life. He is uncommonly well suited to be a professional cartoonist.
Today’s retro strip has two things one rarely sees in an Arlo & Janis cartoon: dialog that runs to four lines of lettering (panel 4) and a brick wall. Brick walls are tedious to draw. Well, it’s Thursday; I don’t have much time.
