For those of you who are a glutton for punishment, today’s old strip takes us back to 2008, when Gene was in college. Unbeknown to Arlo and Janis, he also has connected with his childhood friend from the beach, Mary Lou, and nature is taking its course. This is the beginning of the modern era of Gus, Mary Lou and Meg. Things have changed since then. The restaurant became simply “The Dock.” Meg was four years old; she seems to have a birthday about every two years. Both Arlo and Janis are at that difficult stage where you just have to let the kid go, because, well, you don’t have any choice.
