Just a Big Softy

April 10, 2001

This old A&J, from 20 years ago this month, is one of my favorites. After the tornadoes and thunderstorms finally quieted, spring has arrived in all its glory. The past Easter weekend and into this week have been perfect. Outside, it is room temperature. The azaleas are rioting, and an atonal cacophony of bird songs somehow manages to hit the perfect note. The heat and the bugs will be here soon, but for now the outdoors couldn’t be better. When I write about the weather here, it usually signals I don’t have a lot to say that day. That’s probably true today, too, but in my defense I can tell you that the weather truly is the No. 1 topic of conversation around here.
