A pithy comic strip about life, love, lust and puthy cats.

Digging Up Bones

By Jimmy Johnson

Presented without comment, two comic strips from 1997. Name a nightmare. How about an ex-wife who churns out books that, no matter the subject, are heavily weighted with autobiography? Welcome to my world. Actually, it’s not that bad. In fact, my friend and ex-wife Rheta Grimsley Johnson has produced a new book entitled “The Dogs Buried Over the Bridge,” in which she dishes on dogs, husbands and other trappings of domestication. She also has a new Web site, rhetasbooks.com. Of her previous books, my favorite is “Poor Man’s Provence, Finding Myself in Cajun Country.” It makes Rheta mad when I single out PMP for praise; I don’t know why. Of course, if I were better at knowing what makes Rheta mad, she’d be writing different stories. But take a look at “The Dogs Buried Over the Bridge.” Just don’t believe everything you read.

The Green Eyed Monster is in all of us
Some beat it down with an axe handle
Others feed it dog bones and kitty treats
Of course it thrives on thin air

    Shakespeare:
    Iago:
    O, beware, my lord, of jealousy;
It is the green-ey’d monster, which doth mock
    The meat it feeds on.

    Good morning Villagers….

Thanks Jean…and I know about the humidity.

Rained here for a little while, then the sun came out making it even more sultry. Came home from work and the A/C seemed to be working but it slowed down. We think it’s the fan as there was hardly an air flow. Husband going to call and have it checked out. Hope it’s today.

Have to shut fan off at work to clean packer, if not cleaning spray flies back in my…remember that Lysol is my best friend πŸ™‚

    Not much else to say…

    ya’ll have a blessed day…..

Good morning after 4 hours sleep. Hotel alarm keeps going off. Trying to fall asleep again. Leg lifts working on knee pain. Strange that when body hurts working some muscles helps reduce pain. It does.

I understand that it’s called exercise and they tell me that it’s supposed to be good for you. At least that’s what they tell me.

    Good morning hugs to everyone!

Yesterday’s cooking did NOT set off the smoke alarm and tasted pretty good. Thanks for all the help, folks. πŸ™‚ Jackie’s vegetables made it really lovely. And there’s enough to enjoy for several days.

Tangled up earphones…. a telephone operator’s start-of-shift puzzle! No matter how carefully it was put it away, a tangle would greet you. I decided they must have a dance when we weren’t looking.

OB: watched the bird program until around the time the swans took flight, at which point our power went out for over an hour. Gotta love thunderstorm season in Florida! Not really complaining since storms drop the temperature considerably and provide entertaining “light shows”. Power outages aren’t really that common anyway; about ten years ago our city bought us out of our contract with then Florida Power, now Duke Energy, and service has steadily improved.
