A pithy comic strip about life, love, lust and puthy cats.

Extra, Extra!

Food for Thought

By Jimmy Johnson

September 4, 2000

I’ve written some pretty dreadful limericks over the years, but this one is okay, I believe. According to Wikipedia, a pure limerick is defined by its AABBA rhyming scheme and by a bawdy nature. I must say I can’t remember producing an off-color limerick; remember, Arlo & Janis is a newspaper comic, after all. However, that’s why I have you people! I can rely on you to give almost anything a bawdy spin.

“Listen, my children and you shall hear / Of the midnight ride … .” Not sure any Villagers hale from MA, where tomorrow, the 18th of April, is celebrated, but happy Patriots Day anyway. Peace,

I’ve noticed a something strange on the gocomics page. I start reading my comics but some of them don’t open to the current date. It shows yesterday’s date and strip. I find it very annoying. Sometimes when I open the comic it starts at a week ago Tuesday. I read them everyday.

Kerry, Happens to me, too. If there is indeed a current strip, usually clicking the R-pointing arrow below yesterday’s strip will take you to today’s strip. Peace,

But annoying – I would think they/it(?) would be updated by 11 at night. Then just after midnight CDT (or standard when appropriate)
it goes to the current date- so now you have to go back. 🙁

I am Old Bear today –

Trucker, Very stupid, like falcons. There is a long dead egg in a CA nest ledge, which peregrines intermittently incubate. As long as that egg is there, no other falcons can use the site. Lovely, inaccessible ledge. The CA DNR should send a drone in, to roll the egg out.

There are still cranes aloft in NE, though I think most have migrated N & NW. Peace,

Some of those cranes circled back to spend another night in NE. Here’s a single crane in the Miss. R. in SE MN. Peace,

Emb I have been to see the cranes as they migrate. They cover the river like an island. I have seen them in the wild in Texas and in Florida. I am unsure if they are in Louisiana in the wetlands but I think they are. We used to go see the migrating birds there as well.

For heaven’s sake! Trucker Ron is back again in my tablet! I use my phone and two tablets. He has been in and out of ALL of them!

I am losing weight on the Ghostly food plan and an hour or two of bed bound exercise executed alone. It’s how I lost half my body weight six years ago before cancer. It got my diabetic disease controlled before cancer and steroids. I am controlled again with a 6.2 A1C.

Despite this I have appointments with a diabetic dietician and the diabetic weight loss program at my heart center and wellness center. We are NOT doing this the right way.

Arlo eating smaller amounts is right way but probably not ribs and beef.

    Love Jackie Monies

      .
Ribs and beef don’t directly raise your glucose levels, of course, but the sauces sure can pack a wallop!

Ghost and I went out for pizza tonight, the first time I have WALKED in anywhere since Thanksgiving. I used my stationary walker and walked about 50 feet into the restaurant. My physical therapy limit is 50 feet and we pushed it.

Ghost forgot her $10.99 vegetarian pizza are huge, so he ordered two! We brought home two large halves for another meal this week. And I am stuffed.

My broken leg is doing amazingly but the unbroken one hurts so badly. I can’t trust it at all.

About the current wine strip. Long long ago zi used to stand in grocery aisles and wine shops giving away free glasses of wine to any shopper I could interest in drinking one. Janis would have enjoyed shopping like that.

Unfortunately that was an act of love and unpaid but I loved doing it. I love wine and loved turning others onto drinking wine. Unfortunately I can’t drink wine now but if things go wrong I think I would go back to drinking soda pop wines in the bath tub like Janis does.

No one drinks noble vintages in the tub.

Heya this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use
WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code
with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted
to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
