Why am I always picking on Ohio? I’ve never even been to Ohio, except for two trips to Cincinnati, and I think that barely counts as Ohio. Anyway, I ran across this Sunday A&J from 2004 and decided to show it to you today. I know, I know. We’re about as far as we can get from Columbus Day, but I was searching through old Sunday cartoons, looking for examples to make a point here, but I found this one instead. It doesn’t make my point at all, but I like it. I swear! I’m drinking the same coffee this morning that I always drink.

Definitive symptoms of food poisoning per Mayo Clinic. It isn’t just puking!
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/food-poisoning/symptoms-causes/syc-20356230
Note that Ghost’s high temp of 101.8, his severe dehydration, his confusion and delirium, along with neurological symptoms were reason to see s doctor.
Who knew? It wasn’t puking.
It used to be that when I agreed with my wife that I needed to see a doctor that she knew I was delirious and REALLY needed to see a doctor. Since my health reversals in ’09 I’m seeing doctors at least monthly between the specialties and my GP. Times change, and so must I.
Tell me where he ate last and I will avoid that place!
It’s one of our favorites. We will just avoid that dish. I ate two of the black pepper prawns and did not get sick but they were placed on top of Main entree which I did not eat.
We suspect it was the noodle entree or sauce.
Love scones, but had a blueberry scone weeks back that gave me the 36 hr. runs. No other symptoms, likely simple food poisoning. Chocolate chip next time; love their coffee. Peace,
Ghost and I have discovered that ad Arlo said when he realized he was brushing with Janis toothbrush, “Love is not easily grossed out.”
Trucker: Your “Science is for discovering how things in the universe work, have worked, and will work. Religion is for discovering how to live and treat each other.” is right on.
Unfortunately, the second sentence is only partly true. Historically, for many religion has been a tool for controlling, abusing, or oppressing others [e.g., of particular social status, faith, or gender] for social or material gain, for distorting or denying science, or for other sins.
Further, Morphy contends:, “You seem to have a strange idea that Christian faith precludes natural understanding. Very odd. Elitist and dismissive, all rolled up.” This suggests he is either ignorant of the obvious, or chooses to slander me. Out of charity, I assume the former.
Those who have read my posts over the years should realize that I am a person of faith, one who believes he has integrated his unorthodox theology with “natural understanding” of the operation and history of Elohim’s universe reasonably and successfully, but also tentatively. Any who are “certain” about any conclusion, scientific or theological, are claiming more than I believe mortals are capable of, and thus displaying hubris [overweening pride], first of the Seven Deadlies.
For those for whom “hubris” is not elitist enough, Happy Groundhog [Marmota monax, a peculiar member of the tribe Marmotini within the squirrel family Sciuridae] Day. Peace,
Today’s 2 Feb] “Dustin” is hilarious.
The riddle I remember from Weekly Reader or Highlights was “What’s round on the ends and high in the middle?” I guess Ohio has been a target for a long time.

Oh no! The Village has been shut down again!
Ghost and I went to sign lease on my little retail space this morning. It is on Main Street in part of this wonderful historic bank that is three stories talk with a giant basement below.
I know, I have cancer. I know I have side effects from hemo. I know this is not common sense.
It is my 74 birthday this week. I always do something to celebrate my birthday that is impractical, illogical and often just outrageous. This is this year’s celebration of life.
Be happy you are alive and do something to make others happy you are too.
The shop is called Steals. Guess what it is?
A consignment second-hand shop? Peace,
Not at all. Hardly my style. I am actually very wealthy emb and were you on Facebook you could see photos of my home on the lake, my yacht and boats, my decor and yards and vehicles, at al.
No, I am going to have fun with a look alike “high dollar” boutique that mimics the clothes and trends of the upscale market at an affordable price people here in a small town can afford. We have two such shops here that no one can afford to buy from already and none they can.
Fashion is a passion but I refuse to pay retsil for anything. It’s the steal or the deal I love.
We’ll have antique look armoires, art, furniture like Rodeo Drive, window displays that poke fun and laugh and clothes so anyone can dress like a millionaire. It will be a hoot!
Mostly raiding my huge wsrehouses. I hate garage sales.
Good for you. We have very different irons in the fire, but each seems to be doing fruitful things. Just emailed a Sanford Health dietician [she gave a complimentary-lunch talk at the hospital today] my recipe for signature W. Afr. style fruit + chicken curry. It got rave reviews at a BUMC potluck Sunday [potluck is a UMC sacrament], and I w/b doing it sometime this spring for an ELCA clergy couple who have “adopted” me, but with frozen mallard from fall ’17 hunting season. Said couple are picking me up in 11 hr. for bfst at a downtown bakery. Hmm. Another idea is germinating. Nighty bunch!
One of purposes in opening a women’s boutique is to supply Ghost with a steady supply of comely women on a daily basis. We are next door to the best salon in town and around corner from big nail salon.
We will of course carry Sun dresses and romper suits and mini skirts and sheer see through tops. Lots of leggings.
Ghost and Dickens get to work in shop. Landlord is dog and cat friendly.
I consider Ghost good advertising with his long legs and tight jeans and sweet Southern drawl.
Jackie, your plans sound terrific! I bet you will have a good time with this, and the town will benefit too.
I sure hope that Ghost will bounce back from the illness that laid him low. If there is a next time, don’t wait long — get help right away. Easy for me to say, I live a mile from the hospital, and I appreciate the difficulties of living so far away. Make an emergency plan and make sure everyone knows.
Is this the building, Jackie?
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Foley_Building,_Eufaula,_OK.jpg
No Mark, it’s the bank building on corner of next block on same side of street from same historic period..
Paradise Realty is main tenant, she owns building and is my landlord. On corner on left hand side of Main going north toward Muskogee.
Eufaula, Oklahoma is one of oldest most historic towns in Oklahoma, settled during the days of Indian territory. It is the capital of the Muskogee Nation.
Sorry, 0900. That’s a neat bldg. Maybe I’ll get to see the Louis Sullivan bank in Owatonna this summer. Peace,
OK, so it’s this one. https://www.google.com/maps/@35.2875845,-95.5823998,3a,75y,298.93h,97.53t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sUdUbBjzUovJVE7tD43hqCA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
The reason I thought it was the Foley is your description of a 3 story building, and this one looks like it only has two visible. Good Luck
Yes, that is it. It has a third floor attic I guess and a full below ground basement. I am tiny shop down at end on right of building on the alley.
She put beautiful black awnings around building and lots of exterior upgrades.
My space has hardwood floors and beautiful new bathroom, fresh sheet rock and paint, lighting and wiring.
Cool, Jackie. 🙂 Sounds like a good plan. Happy Birthday!!!!
