I think I said something a few days ago about spring finally arriving. Well, forget it. It’s supposed to freeze tonight, quite possibly setting a new record for the low temperature on this date. But listen to me. Our friends in the midwest and northeast are getting yet another wave of snow. Based on newspapers, I probably have a greater concentration of readers in the aforementioned regions that anywhere else in the country. I hope they’ll forgive me if I say I’m glad I don’t live there now. However, check back with me in July. I could change my mind.

Just a touch of snow flurries predicted here in the Delaware Valley. It will colder, but nothing too bad for mid-April.
I have a bad feeling about this summer though- I see a hot, humkd mess a-coming.
No snow here, but was down to 18°F this morning. Made my morning motorcycle commute somewhat brisk! Thinking about heated gloves…
1-3 inches of snow predicted for this area – but I refuse to shovel it as the temps will go back up to the 50’s and I’m just going to let it melt. Besides, I just took down, and rolled up, 350 feet of pretty orange snow fencing!
Right now it is just rain but it will change over at some point. Have to plug the hubby’s truck in tonight so it will start in the morning. It is supposed to be down in the teens tonight and tomorrow night in the twenty’s. I guess we will be lighting the wood stove this afternoon after having the windows open all night as it was near 60 into this morning.
I love in Central Ohio. After an 80 degree Sunday we woke up to 32 degrees and wind chills in the 20s with a layer of snow on the grass. Warm up starts tomorrow again.
Houston awoke to an unnaturally cool 40° this AM. Wife had a business flight yesterday which was cancelled due to storms passing through town. At least I didn’t freeze in bed alone.
Snow on the grass this AM in Chicago area.
Detroit set a record for most recorded snowfall for the “season”. There was about 3 inches at the airport but most of it was on grass and my deck, so not an issue with driving. Of course we are only comparing to 133 years out of 4.5 billion. I’m sure that we had more snow during the Ice Age. Like Sharon said, it was 80° on Sunday and today a windchill of 18°. I am planning to walk my 3.5 miles in a spring coat. We will see.
Good morning, Villagers. We had a cool night, but it is up to 49 right now with a beautiful blue sky. Sharon, I am going to try your chicken, rice, and veggies recipe this weekend
After a week of lovely Spring weather we woke up to a cold snap, with frost warnings for tonight. As a friend says, Georgia is drunk again.
I was still in moderation over this post(why? the word schmaltz?) (let’s see if we can slip it in now he says salaciously)
For rice growing up we always used Uncle Ben’s converted(never cared for the sticky stuff) it was Symply done and I do it the same way to this day except I do not have the schmaltz(rendered chicken fat)in the back of the fridge the way Mamar and Mom did…We fry chopped onions up in fat(I use butter and olive oil) add some minced mushrooms(I prefer shitake) and minced garlic then add the rice to the fried concoction stir until rice is coated then add water and bring to boil….I always make enough for Fargone four so I can freeze half for next time I need rice.
Due to moderation I am trying a Fargone experiment I am Symply breaking the text into sentences to see whereof I offend, please bear with me…

Ah ha the forbidden word is $hi+aki as in mushrooms!

And now it posts
Sounds good, SF
Was it not just yesterday that some villagers laughed at the Dark Siders for rambling on about the weather? Well, not to be left out in the cold alone: we actually awoke to snow yesterday. not enough in town to do more than moisten the ground but the mountains supposedly got a few inches. Lows that past couple of nights have been in the mid-20s. Only warmed to 34 yesterday but today should reach low 50s, back to 60s tomorrow. The drought is still holding on with more trees showing signs of dying every day. I’d estimate about 20-25% of the local pine forests have died off in the last 3 years with tree deaths accelerating.
And there is the weather and climate report from the New Mexico mountain country. Be well.
Yep, y’all just couldn’t resist, could you? Well, I guess I might as well join in the fascinating weather reporting fun, too. This morning I had to walk twenty miles to work, barefooted, in knee-deep snow, uphill all the way. And this afternoon, I’ll have to walk twenty miles to home, barefooted, in hip-deep snow, also uphill all the way.
p.s. The Weather Channel is so worried about this new trend of crowd-sourced A&J weather reporting that they have eliminated some of their “reality” programming and are having their female weather reporters raise their skirts’ hemlines. Some more.
Ghost Rider 6-
I hear that in order to boost ratings, later this summer the Weather Channel will introduce “Naked Weather”.
“Naked News” was one of the most absurd premises of which I had ever heard, yet it apparently is successful. Goes to show that men will watch anything if it included a nekkid lady.
GR6, sorry to hear of your hardship tour of duty. At least it is all uphill, going into the valley of dispair can be discouraging. Hemlines are limited in rise, at some point you reach the waistband.
Blinky, in Russia both “naked” programs are amongst the top rated. Bare ’em and they will watch. Putin even proves a great chest is a politicans asset to be exploited. Cannot think of a single American politico who could pull off the shirtless look.
Is The Weather Channel even relevant any more with all the local weather personalities on Facebook and other social media? I haven’t even a clue what channel it is on anymore with my cable company.
Sharon, in my life it is no longer relevant. With either phone or table there are two or three ways to get local on demand weather for my current location. Weather and news have always gone to the media that serves it up the freshest.
As Blinky said, it’s not the raising of the hemlines but rather the lowering of cleavage line that brings in the viewers. Let “Bouncin’ Betty” fly ’em free and we’ll watch!
In a word, Sharon, no.
Despite TWC’s attempt to portray themselves as “special” and “vital”, there are now far too many other sources of the commodity called “weather information” for that to be so.
