It’s been a fun week. Thank you. I’m sitting here musing about “social media” and this unprecedented age of interaction and how it relates to me and my work. (OK! I have a self-centered side!) I’m thinking of how different the environment is from when I began, and how it isn’t. But it’s Friday, and I don’t want to get into all that now. Maybe next week. Maybe not. I’ll try to put up a quick post over the weekend, but I intend to relax a bit. I highly recommend it, if you can.

Nope; tried that. A perfectly innocent post regarding my day with Jackie has repeatedly failed to post. (Yes, some portions of my days are perfectly innocent.) No error message, no explanation, no hint…it just never shows up.
Thought I posted my list of cars… guess there was a loose nut on the keyboard.
First car was a Chevy ’68 C10 1/2-ton pickup. It had the 328 engine with dual Holley 4-barrel carbs. Lots of other cars and manufacturers after that. The current car is a RAM 3500 4WD single rear wheel 1-ton pickup. The RAM has the 6.4 liter Hemi. It does a remarkable job off-road, going places that no truck that size should drive. In October just drove the Potash Road/Shafer Trail from Moab to Canyonlands National Park. Stopped to look at the Thelma and Louise point on BLM land before getting to the actual park. The link below shows the last bit of trail, actually a pretty good road, up the canyon rim. I will say that some of the curves were very tight for a truck my size!

Turns out the photo link isn’t to a single photo, but a series on the trail. The pictures are deceptive, though. Seems no one took any photos of the places where the trail was really bad. Also went off road (legally) from the middle of Arches National Park back to the highway just north of Moab. Finally, drove off-road on the Marble to Crystal trail in the Colorado mountains. This trip on the Crystal Mill trail we rented an ATV. (LAST year I drove the RAM.) We had a great time with family on the whole trip between Utah and Colorado!

The first and only time I followed the route designated by the company’s computers without verifying it in my atlas (it was a US highway, so it had to be ok, right?) I ended up on a narrow, twisting stretch in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. Luckily, it was a clear, sunny day; I could see far enough ahead to be comfortable taking both lanes on the tightest turns.
It turns out the tightwads running the IT department thought a database of highways legal for 48 footers was good enough for 53 footers.

Bighorn Mountains and Moab and Canyonlands, Colorafo. Some of my favorite places. Ask me if a totally inappropriate vehicle can drive those dirt and rock roads? The angels watch over me.
Approx. in order: ’50 Pontiac Silver Streak, used, ’54; ’58 Nash Rambler Wagon; Jeep Wagoneer [when it was full size sta. wagon; totaled by son]; 2nd Wagoneer [last trade-in]; Subaru [1st front-w.d. car]; full-size used Ford [?] pickup [needed 2 vehicles; put camper top on it]; Toyota Corolla [totaled by Elaine]; ’93 or so Toyota Camry; T. Camry [given to elder son after Elaine died]; ’03 T. Prius; ’14 Prius [current]. Someplace in ’90s, 2-door T. Tercel. All non-totaled cars after 2nd Wagoneer given to one kid or another. Kaf still driving ’03 Prius. Pickup was so big we named it “Sherm” [short for Sherman tank].

My long hair beginning to call out.

Just as a side note, I was able to enjoy this vacation with my family due to the generosity of a young man that had signed up as an organ donor and the caring understanding of his mother. It is a gift beyond words.

Thanks for the Fargone lists of vehicles, I find them interesting….I can add another Audi soon…my current vehicle seems to have a catalytic converter and transmission problem and at 110k miles seems too far gone(did you see that there?!?) to repair.

I’m a donor too but at my age and health O fear no one will want any parts.
My hair maybe calling out but what it’s saying is I am starting to shed.
Ghost will miss my adorable tights clad hair dressers. He had the one pulchritudnous one in Mississippi but the shops I use have several. All cute and shapely and great attitudes. I have beautiful thick hair and stylists love to work with it, plus I have a ton of attitude they like.
Today was hair style day, Ghost loves a half dozen running around, New harems.
I have 4.5 wigs bought and ready to wear. Two red, a dark and lighter red. Two blonde, an ash like my natural color and a lighter one.
The half wig is called a halo and goes under hats, caps.

Glad you are shedding, JM. It shows that the treatments are having some effect. Let us pray that the preferred effects are also kicking in.
Just lost a grade school (& HS) friend. She had much cancer and had lost bladder and both kidneys about 8 or 9 years ago. Dialysis was her only hope, and it did give her those extra years. Grown son of a good friend recently was found to have the big C, too. It was not expected and had already spread too far. While I don’t know him, I grieve for his parents and others associated with him.

That is what I thought about hair, that it meant chemo was working. Ghost paid more attention than me in chemo class because he had to remind me that the side effects of chemo like hair loss are because the chemo Sims at the fast growing cells of the cancer.
The hair is a fast growing part of our body and the hair follicles and hair succumb along with cancer cells we hope are being killed or prevented from growing.
Think I am shedding or I have Angel wings brushing my bare shoulders. The Ghost is asleep on other side of bed. I suspect he is actually an angel.
I think all the angels in scripture are explicitly or implicitly male. Believe that’s an oversight, at least in my experience. Wife, numerous students, broker, cleaning lady, nuns, var. RNs, fellow BUMCers, an ELCA pastor, some BSU faculty, some Villagers, etc.
