Sometimes it feels odd looking back nearly 20 years at the technology gags I was drawing then. I probably did more then than now, because the era of the true personal computer was just beginning, and everything was new. Even mundane tasks such as digitally organizing one’s Christmas-card list seemed yet one more godsend. However, and this is the odd part, nothing really played out as most of us envisioned then. The ubiquitous “contact list” and social media were not on the radar of most of us in 1998. Cell phones existed, but their primary function was as an auxiliary telephone. Today, the desktop command center and all the technology attached to it seem so quaint.

I printed up my labels on Friday. Took at least 4 attempts. I spent the rest of my day convincing my self that I saved so much time. I need to share an eggnog with Arlo.
Ghost and I did not get Christmas cards sent. It was on my list in my mind but I would have to find addresses. I would be grateful for Arlos outdated system.
On a positive note the kitchen tree and kitchen decor is done. It looks happy and cheerful. The elves dumped the candy there.
The lights and wreaths and garlands are up with Rays hard work. I got him a Santa hat. David won’t wear his. David is 18 and kids embarrass.
Started on living room with fireplace, wreath and small table size tree. Never found the ceiling sized tree where help moved? There is next year when Ray will have sunrooms new closets and cabinets done and it becomes living space instead of storage.
Christmas 2018 goals.
Hooterville, the ceramic gingerbread candy town that runs down center of table got two Okie lake additions, a gingerbread cabin and a gingerbread trailer.
The trailer is a hoot.
Totally lake living, we have no homeowners association out here, anything goes. Even in gingerbread land.
Both the Sunday offering and this blog posting confirms Jimmy has our home under surveillance.
I sent Christmas cards this year for the first time in a long while. Only 4, two to friends and one each to my siblings. I’ve gotten one card, a funny one that gave me a good laugh. Quality is more important than quantity anyway.
10 day forecast has lows in the teens by Friday night. Disappointing, because I wanted to go the Philbrook Museum Festival. They only run it on Fridays and there will be one more public opening on the Friday after Christmas. If weather permits, I hope to go then. They have Christmas music and lights/ornaments all over the house and grounds.
NICE PRESENT FRON JJ – SUNDAY POST
Hard to pick favorites, but Calvin’s dad is right up there. The one about Sears and the K-Mart blue light special was even better.

Bah humbug!
Another BSU prof, history, used to call that out to each other about now. He also contributes to the Pioneer’s monthly ‘Generations’ pages.
The eagles’ nest at Berry College, GA, has been tastefully decorated [by the birds] with an artistic arrangement of pine cones; how seasonally festive!

I love the way Arlo whips out that CD. That’s also charming!
Mark, we are going to Philbrook Friday evening with Jack and daughter, SIL. I have a reservation for dinner if you’d like to join us to see lights, the Lego houses and have dinner with us. I think you’d enjoy it.
You could go back later if weather is too bad on last day.
Consider it a Christmas present and come.
About Sunday’s strip:
Anyone else notice that she’s using her phone for everything except making a phone call?
Yes. I ask Ghost same questions about his computer however.
This one is actually titled ‘A turbulent engagement day.’ Not a promising start, but then, many thought that Elaine & I were marrying earlier than originally planned for a common reason. First child came almost 4 yr. later. This is the blogspot; expect it will be the comic Monday.
