I thought this old A&J strip from 2007 might be appropriate, because daylight saving time ends Sunday morning. We’re going to be staring at a lot of walls in the coming months. It is true, roofs are generally prized, but walls have a more ambiguous reputation. They’re confining. They’re an impediment to understanding and to good will. They’re defensive. However, when the winter wind howls, walls are every bit as valuable as the roof. Perhaps if humans were a flying species as well as a pedestrian species, we’d be ambivalent about our roofs as well.

I watched a lot of the w Cellos including with Val and the one with the two young brothers this morning. I said those baroque musicians really had to really saw fast on those fiddles but nothing to compare to these celloists!
Monday is Ghost’s birthday and I bought tickets to go hear Kris Kristopherson. This is part of a movie they are making about his life I believe and has a lot of others taking part. I will look up the details of the show. I bought them the day they went on sale so I hope they are good seats. Since I was worried about health I even insured them in case something happened.

Some of country music’s biggest names will descend into Tulsa to help raise money for Native American activist Leonard Peltier. Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson, Arlo Guthrie, Jessi Colter, Shooter Jennings and Rita Coolidge are all confirmed to appear. The event, dubbed The Spirit Of Crazy Horse: Kris Kristofferson and Friends, will take place on Monday, November 6 at BOK Center. All proceeds from the show will benefit the Leonard Peltier International Defense Committee
This is the show you’re going to, Jackie.
Apparently it is being filmed as part of a made for television movie about Kris and his life.
Mark went with me last year when Kris was at Cains Ballroom to accept the Woody Gutherie award and lots of his friends appeared for that too.
And it was a good show. The guests were excellent there. Y’all have fun.
Moody Blues is appearing here in January. I love them and this is their 50th anniversary tour.

I threw together a sweet potato pie with Splenda just now. Ghost thought he was defrosting a cooked chicken in freezer bag. It was a lot of cooked and peeled sweet potatoes. Pie sounded good.
Ghost is making chicken vegetable soup with part canned, part frozen vegetables, part fresh. He bought chicken breasts that ironically came from jis hometown in Mississippi.
From today’s Writer’s Almanac, something Will Rogers said in the ’20s or early ’30s. Cannot really object to his male-only reference, since his metaphor doesn’t apply to women, or only under strange circumstances:

Moody Blues, yes. U2, no. The Alan Parsons Project will be in Norman at the same casino that the tornado hit. That will be in January. I would like to go to that, weather permitting. Of course that will mean an overnight trip, too, so would be worth seeing Oklahoma City . The show’s on a Friday night.
