OK! The doors are open again, and it’s back to normal for now. I want to assure you that during the periods I am not here with you, I am not doing nothing. I am thinking! Admittedly it looks a lot like doing nothing, so much so that it is sometimes difficult for me to tell the difference. I have been giving a lot of thought to the future which, in my experience, is immeasurably more productive than giving a lot of thought to the past. Speaking of the past, this cartoon from 10 years ago was lifted almost verbatim from real life. A lot of the better ideas are. Not the best ideas, mind you, but many of the better ones.

Good morning Jimmy. Glad you are back. I like today’s retro strip because it’s true. This time of year you don’t know whether you need short sleeves or a jacket, and run both the heat and the air conditioner in the same day. And today’s new strip is right on the money as well.
As they say in the Newfoundland, I sits and I thinks…. but mostly I sits.
63° yesterday and about 70° today. Of course we’ve had a couple of snow showers this month already….
I used to think but it hurts.
Hallelujah!
The seige has been raised.
The orphans rescued.
Let us fill the air with sounds of joy.

Cogito ergo sum. Or sumting like that.
Careful GR6, brain sprains can be painful.
I was so bereft I joined the Arlo and Janis Fans group on Facebook but did not go over to The Dark Side. Those of us on Facebook clung together but I kept missing Debbe and Ghost and Sand.
Mark will have to post the last photo from me of the ad hoc discussion of departed cartoonists I posted last night. And Jimmy we do NOT want you among them! I think the thought occurs to all of us when you go missing. We love you.
Last Thursday we had snow, ending up with about 4 inches. It was gone by Friday noon. Yesterday I was doing my errands in a short sleeved t-shirt. (That reminds me, I need to order a short sleeve Loodie shirt!) We may yet have another snow or ice storm. After all, I do live in North Georgia. But for the most part, winter is over. sigh…
Sand, Amazing. Pipers for me and strapless heaving bosoms for the Ghost and still beautifully performed and sung. Thank you.
In case the orphans need sustenance I am moving along a la Janis with the back forty vegetable beds. The rains arrived before I got the four I was working on completed but they are close.
I think there are at least twelve more sections in that garden.
Then every night I go fill a tub of hot water like Janis and pour all the bath oil, salts and bubbles in until there is a foot of froth and I soak til it cools down. Last night I kept adding more hot water, reheating the Epsom salts with lavender latte, over and over.
Still hurt this morning.
Yay! We’re back! Relieved that nothing was amiss, JJ.
I vote for your March 5th cartoon as “likely to be considered a classic”. Any chance you’d want to sell the original and raise a few more bucks for your local charity? The third panel really captures Janis’ determination to retrieve her gown….
Now I must needs go back and check out Sandcastler’s reference, and not for the pipers.
Cheers!
Jackie, glad you approved of the pipes. Am surprised GR6 has not weighed in on the fair ladies. It is also a fitting tribute to International Women’s Day which is being observed today.
It’s also National Pancake Day, isn’t it?
Yes, Ruth and I have been weighing in on International Women’s Day already on her Facebook page. I need to find something weighty enough to post on mine in observation.
I noticed the cameras never lingered on the skinny Celtic woman who wasn’t in danger of a wardrobe malfunction. I have experienced some of those, come to think of it.
Yes, I may have to whip up some whole grain ones. Pancakes, not bosoms.
Jackie, are you aware that IWD, has strong socialist roots? Was one of four major annual celebrations of the “Internationals.” The others commemorated: Workers, Children, and Men. These were major holidays throughout the Soviet Bloc and its sphere of global influence. Weighty enough?
Sand, are the Villagers aware that I have always harbored strong agreement with many socialistic countries? I married an Eisenhower Republican but not his politics. I am a Southern woman who came from a LONG line of women who ploughed their own fields and survived hard times when the men cratered.
We are the original Steel Magnolias. And yes, I am related to Huey Long and Uncle Earl but technically they were populists, not socialists but sometimes it looks the same.
Power to The Women!
Hi, everybody! Great to be back. The new retro is indeed from real life. I’m not sure I have ever made it 23 minutes, though. Back when I lived in Kansas, when the sun went down in the middle of summer, I went inside and got a sweater mmediately.
THANKS, Sand. I love Celtic Woman. I have seen them live once and have all their DVD’s, I think.
Reckon she wanted her own shade to park in?

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!
Jackie, I know you said your recent purchase of these has gone missing. You can order from this site: https://www.southernexposure.com/rattlesnake-pole-snap-bean-28-g-p-255.html
Thank you Mark. Yes, they may show up when we clean house before the week of rain ends and I can plant but I will order some more. Yes, we must have Rattlesnake pole beans to go with the real baby ones on ground.
I think this is what Jackie wanted me to copy.
I am reading Berkeley Breathed’s Outland Collection “His Kisses Are Dreamy, but Those Hairballs Down My Cleavage” which still makes me laugh. It contains the single funniest panel skewering men that he ever drew. I know, he’s back but it isn’t the same.
And the panel: https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10353696_1572739149704487_2176240400821242289_n.jpg?oh=296b0226c804a3662060f8b82f50e017&oe=575AEBDA
c x-p and JJ: Jimmy never saw anything like the [hilarious] 5 Mar. ’16 cartoon when peeking in our window. Elaine? Not a cc. of false modesty in her body. I checked. Often. Vive la difference!
Peace,
emb, I don’t think it’s false modesty. Janis is shown to be very cold sensitive, so I think she is trying to expose as little of herself as possible to room temperature before getting that nightie on and climbing out of bed.
Perhaps she was cold without the extra body heat?
I am starting spring house cleaning and sweating in a long sleeve tee shirt and skinny jeans. I say that because cotton stretch jeggings are thin fabric and so is the exercise tee. I got the heat repaired after six weeks of winter just in time for the a/c which will probably need repair.
The Chinese laundry is open again, it is raining nonstop, I am folding, putting away, hanging, sorting, washing and barely begun. I am trying to find the rubber boots to muck through the mud to dog house. They are still putting in drains and stone paths.
Who blows out their knee doing laundry?
