There’s nothing like starting a series of classic cartoons on a Friday! Things still are in a bit of a holding pattern here at arloandjanis.com, but I’ve been thinking about a few things. I hope we’ll have a little fun next week. I know, I know. I say things like that all the time, but sometimes they come to pass. Meanwhile, I’m taking a few days off to visit the Gulf and eat some seafood. Happy Washington’s Birthday!

Good morning all. Up early and charging my cell phone in Black Jack. Packs of purses and no cell phone chargers in any!
Heading out on another adventure with Dickens today. Looking forward to rainy weather.

I haven’t got the toque, but I do have a chef’s jacket that I wear on occasion, mostly holidays when company is coming for dinner. The kids roll their eyes so hard they’re likely to stick that way.
Greg, I hadn’t realized our Mayor had moved, either. That’s what I get for thinking I’ll catch up later and then not doing it.
Trucker Ron,
Thanks for getting me out of the darkness and back into the Village with your comment about Auburn and superiority over Bama. I guess you really knew how to get me to comment. At Auburn we have a saying, “We pull for two teams, Auburn and whoever plays Bama! Jimmy can attest to that fact. Thanks for getting me back. War Eagle!
God bless us every one. God bless the USA.
Guys Jimmy has been where he is for awhile. If you’d noticed where his church is, not on coast.
Has he told us where his church is, or even if he had one?
Peace,
Branta canadensis flock at the N Decorah site, grazing. Ground about 50% bare. Operator scanning nest tree and whatever suits her fancy.

Peace,
My National Geographic calendar shows Washington’s birthday and Lincolns, also Family Day of Canada, and Waitangi Day (NZ). The first car I bought was when I was in the military, a 1966 Corvair 500 in a burgundy color. Less than a year later I bought an AMC Hornet hatchback. Still have a soft spot for Corvairs, wish I could afford to buy a ’66 Corvair just to have around. Just for the few Nader’s raiders around, 65 and newer Corvairs handled very well and were quit safe.
I have to admit that I’m thinking of Debbie as I post this via wifi on a plane on my way to Japan. It costs money, but I get a decent per diem, so I am splurging.
My last post stated that the food on the way to Japan is tolerable and better than the food on the way back. I may need to amend that as it really tastes funky. The salad is small but good. The shrimp is probably OK but I can’t eat it. The entre tastes so bad that I make a funny face when I try to eat it. Oh well, I shouldn’t complain.
emb: Here’s where he told us about his church – https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/parsonage/work-with-arlo-and-janis
Gosh, Steve, we’re impressed you think enough of us to stay in touch while airborne over The Great White North. 🙂
And I am checking in from the great barren dead Plains of Oklahoma. Overcast and gloomy.
Ruth Anne:
Thank you. I knew about the project, but didn’t realize [or remember] it was JJ’s church’s parsonage. The site says, ‘my fellows in the First Universalist Church’, so it must be. I’m a non-trinitarian UM [though that would not make a difference], but never got around to contributing.
JJ: Does the project still need $$?
Peace,
Jackie, you should have headed toward the Deep South…mostly sunny and highs in low 70s today. Of course, come to think of it, Globe-Trotting Jackie may BE headed to the Deep South. 🙂
Whatever your destination, be safe.
46°F on window thermometer after lunch, predicted low tonight mid-20s, but pred. low tomorrow 38°F, actually above freezing. First since before Christmas, if I remember.
Peace,
Got my magnification tab back! Son told me it was a matter of enabling a “status bar” and to look under “view” [ which I could not find at all ]. Out of desperation, I saw a little yellow star with a green whatever on it at the UL of my screen. That turned out to be the view button and gave me a menu upon which “status bar” was not turned on. I turned it on and the problem went away.
Son can have an extra helping of lasagna when he visits on the morrow.
I was out of town all week and now I’m busy trying to figure out where I will put a coal stove.
C ex-p, this kind of thing happens to me also. So annoying, isn’t it! If there were only an owners manual to follow, we would do fine.
I doubt it would help that much, Sweet Charlotte. I’ve found most of those manuals to be more confusing than helpful, unless one is already very tech savvy. And on-line problem discussion groups drive me batty…200 people with same problem, but seldom is a solution posted. And when one is, it seems to be immediately followed by a 100 comments that they already tried that, and it didn’t work. 🙁
Too true, Dearest Ghost. I’ve seen that lots of times. You seem to know a lot about managing computers, really; next time I have a problem, I will ask you.
Good morning. Dickens and I are lying here high above the city in a nice large suite. Think we will have a fun vacation up here. Meeting a friend of mine named Reba. She married well and wears
Such elegant dresses and more diamonds than the Queen. Tulsa has a lot of old money, most of it oil.
When he was doing the parsonage project, I never payed in attention to where it was, I just assumed it was a small town near by . . . . . (having now looked) 300 some miles isn’t to far to go to church is it???
Well it almost 6:00 in Michigan and nearly 8:00 PM here. I have been up for 24 hours and will try to get some sleep. My Dad worked 12-8 am 5 days a week and he often did not sleep for 24 hours. I don’t know how he did it. I knew that he did it to provide for the family, but I really wished he could have learned to nap as sleep deprivation is tough on the health.
Good Night Gracie….
Good morning Village.
