It’s Valentine’s Day, 2015, and it falls on a Saturday. You know what that means, don’t you? It means you won’t get into so much as a Burger King without a wait! Be sure to visit today’s A&J for my indirect thoughts on that one. Where do you get your ideas, indeed. Don’t get me wrong. I love a nice outing in a good restaurant, especially in observance of Valentine’s Day; I just make it a point never to go on Valentine’s Day! This allows for a truly romantic dinner in a peaceful atmosphere (at normal prices), plus it serves a secondary purpose if necessary: “Valentine’s Day? Don’t you remember that cozy little place we dined at last August!”
Happy Valentine’s Day!

David–
Another big YAY from Nancy Kirk!!!!
David: You are fortunate and we are glad. Peace, emb
From a job I had in a previous lifetime, if I haven’t seen a particular financial/credit scan, I’ve probably heard of it.
Still mildly intrigued by the category with check boxes for ”once a year” or “on special occasions”. Guessing the category was not “how often do you get the oil changed in your car”.
David in Austin, so very glad to hear of your successful surgery! I’ve been thinking of you these two last days and hoping for the best. Happy that what you’ve waited for so long is here at last!
Jackie and other well-wishers, I am OK, just a bit grumpy and depressed over this horrible cold wind and relentless snow. I haven’t left the house for two weeks and the inactivity is bad for me, I’m sure. Looking on the brighter side, the house is warm and my daughters were here Saturday and brought groceries. I have a long-time tenant in one of the upstairs bedrooms and he has valiently done all the snow shoveling. He fills the bird feeders too and scatters seeds on the snowdrifts, for the sparrows who prefer to feed on the ground. I can see them from the kitchen window and they are very entertaining.
In old business, I saw sand’s comment (and had previously read an article) about the lawmaker in Montana (State motto: “We don’t want to see your junk”) who wants to outlaw tight fitting clothing such as yoga pants. That was something about which I didn’t have a strong opinion…until I realized the law would also criminalize pokies. (I think…the wording was somewhat convoluted and confusing.) Now that’s just wrong.
If this lady, who seems to find her work as a “weather girl” extremely exciting, were working in Montana, I suppose she’d have to move to Colorado (State motto: “Dude, you’re harshing my mellow”) or face criminal charges.

Yup,,,there’s snow there on the ground….and I am going back to bed. Got a glass of milk, graham crackers and…and I cannot stop it…so back to bed I go
good night…………………

Female newscaster who perhaps should have been wearing nipple shields. Watched that happen on air it seems?
So. who else saw the news story about how exciting Jim Cantore found the current horrific snow storm on air? Wonder if it has a similar effect on him? Perhaps his was toasty warm in those LL Bean thermals?
Otherwise, unless ghost tells me that is not effect that cold, frigid weather has on him, I am not gonna believe Cantore did.
I just woke up, Ghost, dog in breeze way was barking horribly, so either he couldn’t close the door, check box one, the house was on fire, check box two or he wanted his roommate to get the heck out of bed and move over, check box 3. Not going to make sense!
Love, Jackie
Today’s A and J, good one JJ. It is obviously Janis meeting herself coming and going. Let’s see what the Dark Side makes of it. No one but me seemed to have read it yet.
Good morning Villagers…..
David, it was good to read about the success in your kidney transplant…….and a big Amen. So will you be taking anti-rejection medication now?
It’s still snowing, snow showers, looks to be a couple of inches out there, whether.com says 5 to 8 more inches, and Accuweather says just a couple of more inches. Think I’ll stick with Accuweather….I really feel sorry for the people in Boston.
Miss Charlotte…I feel for you, two weeks is a long time. I’m glad you have daughters that take good care of you, and you have a resident who helps out.
gotta go…..work clothes in dryer, and lunches to fix.
ya’ll have a blessed day….I know David is
GR 😉
Jackie, I thought the same thing about today’s real time strip, Janis was meeting herself coming and going…..
Strip of 05.16.15:
My first thought was the same as Jackie’s and, if Jimmy doesn’t follow the strip with anything else, that must be the joke.
However, he could be setting the stage for a near-identical twin who just moved into the neighborhood or is located some other where but walking there today.
Considering Janis’ past jealousies, this could become interesting.
Jackie:
I imagine many others read it, but they might be waiting to see if Jimmy will post a new one today so that they can post there instead of here.
Here, fewer readers.
Is this the start of a strange doopleganger plot?
David, that’s cool about your new lease on life and I can share with everyone here the importance of being a donor. I wouldn’t be able to drive without a new cornea. I’ve only had one so far, so I’m a little lopsided but going from 20/several hundred to around 20/40 in one eye is good enough for me (and now like a regular person I can have lasik if I want). people can be assured when they donate it changes people’s lives
David, a big YAY!! for you and your family!Keeping up the good thoughts and prayers that all continues to go well.
Ruth Anne, thanks for the link! I’ve always liked that song, and the lady was hilarious. 🙂
The “experts” keep telling us the weather here in North Georgia is going to get messy and we will have rain, sleet, snow, ice, wind, smog, fog, and all manner of winter nastiness, but somehow all the patterns change and we get nothing but cold. Personally I would love a couple of feet of snow, so I keep hoping.
OF: Still on yesterday’s last prediction. emb

There: the blanks are filled in again. Peace, emb
I’m guessing it’s just a look-alike. Can’t recall if Janis always wears tennis.
Odd thing here is, we don’t have over 2′ of snow on the ground. Probably a foot, rather than 3′ or more. Area is mostly sand, glacial outwash probably, won’t be much meltwater, [*%&## speelczech], rough on some critters, plants, and farmers, etc., but the folks by the Red River of the North [Fargo, Grand Forks] will have it easy, unless there’s much more snow on the ground in ND.
Peace, emb
OF due 1040-1100 CST. emb

TIP comic same as BlogSpot, which enlarges more. Sardines on Ezekiel 4:9 toast time. Peace, emb

Charlotte, you have every reason for a bad case of winter-itis right now in New Hampshire! You’re having the winter we had last year, and even born-and-bred Midwesterners yelled “uncle” then. Your daughters and your lodger sound like treasures, though, and watching those LBBs (little brown birds) is fun. No matter what the weather, they show up to eat our seeds, fuss at each other, and make us laugh.
David, your good news is our good news! Prayers and good thoughts continue for you and your medical team.
I think Jimmy has arranged an introduction of two like-minded souls in today’s real-time strip.
Debbe, milk and graham crackers sound pretty comforting on a snowy night.
Mediocre eruption, + a NE breeze. Few, if any, jets high enough to be against the sky over the conifers to the N. Breeze actually sent steam right over a dozen or so viewers to the NW. Not noxious enough to disturb or disperse them. I’ve no idea how much solute there is in geyser steam, but I doubt it’s distilled water. New prediction should be up in 10-20 min., unless this blow was inconclusive enough to base one on. That happens: “No prediction possible now … etc.” Peace, emb

OF due 1222-1242 CST. I’ll probably be working out then. Peace, emb
Well, hello finally. Woke up early to ice, snow and a satellite dish full of it including sleet. I let dogs out, those that would go. The rest stayed in bed (mom’s old dogs). Had breakfast of high protein oatmeal and insulin, all my meds taken by 9:30 and had finished my long overdue column and edited it for editor, now I can transmit it since I assume Australia is not having our weather?
Strange isn’t it? My publisher lives in Texas Hill country, my editor in Australia. I love both but have never met one. I may go to Australia, am planning for New Zealand definitely but later.
Second publisher and editor live in Port Townsend, WA so will be up there later this summer. I know one, face to face, have yet to meet other. Great magazine and great people.
Even got started on my next column before I sent in the first. Now that is rare indeed!
Sleet arrived last night after a giant thunderclap and I could hear it hitting my roof. Nice if I could get enough storm damage to replace this roof with white metal/tin to match rest of house.
Advantage of rambling lake style houses. Separate roof lines!
More interesting news for Sand and Ghost about weapons but it can wait a minute.
Love, Jackie
Thank you to Debbe and to Denise for your good wishes. You made me smile with your amusing comments! Still thinking of David in Austin, of course — all the Villagers are. Hoping you had a good night and maybe eat a nice breakfast?
Only just now I read today’s Arlo and Janis, did NOT look at the dark side, not wanting to sully my opinion. That other woman doesn’t look anything like Janis! Different face, clothes, even her hair is subtly different. See the cartons in the trash at the back door? That means that she just moved into the neighborhood. She didn’t look to see if anyone was coming, tut tut — careless. No wonder Janis crashed into her accidentally. What will happen tomorrow, I can’t foresee. They will both apologise, no doubt.
